It all started when…
…Kevin met Kim. Well, sort of. My husband and I are parents to eight (8) amazing children and I could not be more proud of them. The miracle of birth was always intriguing to me and over the years, it has become clear to me that women need and deserve support during their pregnancy, birth and post partum.
I took my first doula training 3.5 years ago in a quaint little town in Bavaria, Germany. I was blessed to be welcomed and embraced by the local military community and during the years I served in Germany, I got to support over 60 families on their journey to parenthood. Many of these families have become life-long friends and it is wonderful to be able to follow their journey and watch the little miracles I once welcomed into this world grow into strong, independent toddlers.
Since I took my first training a lot has happened. I have certified with DONA International and Stillbirthday as a Birth, Post Partum and Bereavement Doula. I completed training in acupressure for birth, the Advanced VBAC Doula certification training, Hypnobabies Doula training and certified in TENS for birth. I am continuously working on additional trainings to enhance my skillset.
During my time in Bavaria, I founded the USAG Bavaria Chapter of the Military Birth Resource Network and worked with the Doulas of Bavaria to provide community resources for active duty soldiers and military families. Military life comes with constant changes, and my family is not exempt. In July 2021, we relocated to Colorado Springs where I have the honor to continue to serve military families. Having worked in Germany is wonderful - these experiences enable me to bring a different outlook to local hospitals. I have seen birth happening at home and in hospitals, in operating rooms and birthing suites. Most importantly, I have seen incredible, strong and empowered women and families who were able to advocate for themselves regardless of where their baby was born.
I am proud and excited to continue to educate families, help them make informed choices and support them and their individual wishes. The passion I have for this work is deeply rooted in the belief that women deserve a voice, they deserve to be heard.
